Are your staff taking advantage of added value benefits?

24 May 2021

When we talk about employee benefits, many of the insurance policies employers put in place for their staff ultimately provide financial protection or cover for health related conditions. However, the modern employee benefit scheme includes lots of valuable additional benefits and resources at no additional cost, which employees can use at any time and without having to make a claim. I have highlighted below some of the benefits you can expect to see across the employee benefits product spectrum:

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

EAP’s provide support in a wide range of areas, including:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Family issues
  • Debt
  • Legal information
  • Educational and information resources

The services are predominantly telephone based, but face to face structured counselling is also available where this is needed. EAP’s can help support not only employees but also team leaders and supervisors with skills such stress management, supporting bereavement, dealing with mental health issues in the workplace and much more.

Virtual GP

We all know how difficult in can be to make an appointment to see your GP.  Many insurance providers now include 24/7 access to a UK based GP through video or phone call. This is a service which has really come into it’s own during the pandemic, where we have either been in lockdown or we perhaps haven’t had the confidence to venture out to see our GP.

Second Option Service

Provides access to top consultants worldwide, for those who wish to seek a second option on diagnosis or treatment place for almost any condition.

Gym discounts

Discounted membership at wide range of gyms across the country.

As you can see there are a lot of great benefits which staff may have access to through an employee benefit insurance policy provider by their employer. Many of the benefits are also open to uninsured staff plus also to immediate family.

Now (more than ever) employers need to provide support when it comes to wellbeing. Companies whose employees take advantage of services such as those mentioned above, can experience many benefits including improved morale, lower turnover, drops in employee presenteeism and being more likely to be seen as an employer of choice.

If you do not feel your business has the appropriate support functions in place in order for you to have an effective health and wellbeing strategy, please get in touch so that we can discuss your existing benefit arrangements and the additional benefits you would like your staff to have access to.
