I was born in 1973 and recall at school in the early 80’s talk wasn’t about the great new car someone’s parents had got or a recent holiday but unfortunately whose dad had lost his job that week.
I was reminded of this recently when BBC 6 music had their celebration of Kate Bush’s first album “The Kick Inside” and similarities with the current economic position then and now with high inflation, increasing interest rates and mass strikes which are all contributing to the present “Cost of Living Crisis”.
Since Covid there has been a much greater focus on employee’s mental health/wellbeing but it is often forgotten that financial wellbeing is as an important pillar of mental wellbeing as mental health.
At Wingate we recognise this and have been providing to our clients and their employees in 2023 a range of financial wellbeing seminars which have been extremely well received. These presentations are designed to help educate employees on how to budget and organise their finances so that they can ultimately stop burying their heads in the sand and start taking control of their situation.
We promote some of the valuable benefits employers may already be providing staff which can help with managing finances such as employee assistance programmes and health cash plans which is often overlooked. We also signpost free government resources which can be extremely helpful.
These presentations are provided free to our clients who have committed to ongoing, comprehensive pension governance services with Wingate, as we feel these presentations are so important in these difficult times. We can also provide these presentations on ad hoc basis to new and existing clients without pension governance services for a fixed fee.
If you would like to consider supporting your employees’ financial wellbeing, please get in touch and we would be happy to provide a demo of the types of presentation and topics we can cover. As Marty’s says “‘if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything’.
